Founded in 1991, the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) belongs to the College of Humanities and Social Science in National Chiao Tung University. The ICS offers a master's program in communication studies. Each year, this Institute admits 15-20 students into its master program, including those who are admitted by entrance examinations and recommendation-based admissions.

Spotlights

The goal of ICS is to develop students' research and analytical ability in understanding the complexity of the interaction among new technology, communication and society. By incorporating approaches from humanities and social science, ICS aims to nurture students with professional knowledge of new media and communication.

Programs

Taking advantage of the university's strength in technology studies, ICS places its emphasis on research and teaching relating to the social impacts of new media on communication. ICS has two tracks with one focusing on “New Media and Marketing Communication” and the other on “New Media and User Experience.”
